Pool Liner Replacement in Owego, NY

Owego sits where Owego Creek meets the Susquehanna, and that confluence gives it the highest groundwater of anywhere we work. If your pool is in the village, the water table is not part of the story — it is the whole story.

What Pools Are Like Around Here

Ground & Water Table

In the village and on the river flats the ground is alluvial silt and gravel, the Tioga, Chenango and Middlebury loams, and the water table stays remarkably high all year. Water sits three to five feet down even through a dry stretch. For a liner replacement that one fact governs the entire job: drain a pool here without a sump crock and an active pump and hydrostatic pressure will lift the liner off the floor, sometimes before you have even finished draining. We plan Owego jobs around it rather than hoping for the best. Head north toward Flemingville or south into the South Owego hills and it flips to compact glacial till — Volusia and Mardin clays with a fragipan 18 to 24 inches down that traps water at the surface, then freezes and works on your walls and coping all winter.

Water Source & Filling

The village is on public water and fills easily enough. The hill properties north and south of town are well-fed, and that is where capacity bites — a pool fill can outpace a well's recovery and start pulling sediment. If you are up in the hills we will usually suggest trucking water in and doing it in one pass.
